Economic Development

The Belmont Business Community is a primary, integral partner in our community’s success, health and well-being.

Belmont provides an excellent environment for commercial and industrial development and the Town is committed to the expansion of its commercial and industrial bases. Officials and staff of the Town work closely with prospective commercial and industrial developers and tenants through the planning, approval, construction and operational phases.

Municipal water and sewer facilities are provided in the Village area as well as portions of Laconia Road (Route 106) and Daniel Webster Highway (Route 3). Municipal sewer is also provided in the Winnisquam area as well as portions of the Depot Street & Gilmanton Road (Route 140) areas. The Town Property Tax Maps have recently been updated with both digital based and aerial mapping features. This, along with computerization of the assessing records, enhances services provided for future development within the Town. The Planning Board meets monthly and has a detailed but streamlined review and approval process to address the timing needs of property owners and developers.

Belmont currently has three retail malls (spaces available), two commercial parks (spaces and lots available) and four industrial parks (lots available). Financial services are provided by one local and many regional banks. The Belmont Mill Revitalization Project is completed. This complete renovation of a four-story, 10,773 square foot mill, originally constructed in 1833, provides the Village area with a much needed community service center. A second site, adjacent to the Mill, is available for future commercial development. A Belmont Village Revitalization Committee is assisting in the development of the Village area.
