Administrative Services
The Administrative Services of the Belmont Police Department encompasses the Training Division, the Evidence Room, Prosecution and the Records Section of the Belmont Police Department and is under the direct supervision of the Chief of Police.
Training Division
This division is responsible for the training and documentation of all training that occurs within the police department. This is to include our extensive field training program for all of our recruits, new police officers and dispatchers as well as in-service training and firearms training for all of our employees.
Field Training Officers and instructors are employees who are technically proficient in their craft and have the ability and experience to convey that experience and information to new employees.
Evidence Room
The Evidence Room is managed by two officers called a Primary and Secondary Evidence Room Technicians. These two officers are responsible for the intake, processing and transfer of all evidence that enters and leaves the Belmont Police Station. These officers are also responsible for disposing, returning and destroying all evidence after the case has been disposed or the time for return has passed.
Prosecution
The Belmont Police Department has a prosecutor that handles all criminal and administrative hearings. Sgt. Derek Gray, the department prosecutor, handles all arraignments, trials and hearings held at the Laconia District Court and at administrative hearings at the Department of Motor Vehicles in Concord. He is also responsible for all Grand Jury hearings.
Records
The Records Section of the department handles all report requests from attorneys, insurance companies, government entities and individuals. This section also handles pistol permits and applications for Hawker and Peddler Permits as well as Itinerant Vendor Permits.

Support Division
The Support Services Bureau of the Belmont Police Department encompasses the School Resource Officers, Detectives, Communications and Community Programs and is commanded by Captain Evan Boulanger, the Executive Officer and Support Services Bureau Commander.
School Resource Officers
School Resource Officers (SROs) are responsible for the patrolling of three public schools. The SROs enforce laws and investigate crimes that occur in the schools, but act as mentors and resources to the more than the 1,500 people within the Shaker Regional School District. The SROs teach programs such as D.A.R.E. and other safety programs.
Detective Division
Detectives are responsible for the investigation of all major crimes, coordination with outside local, state and federal agencies and the registration of all sex offenders.
Communications Division
Communications division is responsible for dispatching and monitoring the activity of the on-duty Belmont Police Officers. These civilians are extremely important to the operation of the department and the safety of the officers.
Community Programs
Community programs help the Belmont Police Department serve our citizens in a more efficient manner by raising and maintaining our high standards. Our community programs include such programs as our Law Enforcement Explorer Post, blood drives, senior meals, women safety seminars, gun lock programs to name a few.

Operations Division
The Operations Division of the Belmont Police Department is the largest and most visible division of any police department, Patrol. All police officers start their law enforcement career in this division. This Division is commanded by Sergeant Christopher Rideout, assisted by Patrick Riley, and Joel Pickowicz.
Patrol Officers
Patrol Officers are responsible for the patrolling the 30 square miles of land and approximately 100 miles of road that make up the Town of Belmont. These officers are the initial responders to complaints that range from barking dogs to violent felonies. These officers also investigate crimes and accidents that occur within our jurisdiction. Patrol is also responsible for proactive law enforcement techniques such as traffic enforcement, property checks, directed patrol in targeted areas and other programs which will help reduce crime or problems in the Town of Belmont.
All of our officers get the same basic training which includes our 12-week Recruit Field Training Program, the 16-week Recruit Police Academy and then several basic criminal investigation schools after their graduation.
The following duties are also the responsibility of the Operations Commander:

Quarter Master – Responsible for equipping and controlling all department uniforms, firearms and equipment.

Plant Maintenance – Responsible for the upkeep and maintenance of the physical building.

Vehicle Maintenance – Responsible for the upkeep and maintenance of all the cruisers and vehicles.
