Absentee Ballots Available Now

- Absentee Ballots are available now at Town Hall.If you require an absentee ballot, you have the following options:
Requesting a Ballot:
- Visit the office in person to complete an absentee ballot request. Once your ballot is issued, you may:
- Vote immediately in the office, or
- Take the ballot with you and return it after completing it.
- Mail your absentee ballot request to our office. Your ballot will be mailed to you.
- Have someone deliver your absentee ballot request to our office. Your ballot will be mailed to you.
Returning Your Ballot:
- Mail it back to our office
- Drop it off in person
- Have someone deliver it on your behalf
Please Note *If someone delivers your ballot for you, they will be asked to present identification and complete a brief form.
Important Reminders:
- Ballots may only be issued to the individual who submitted the request.
- Absentee ballots must be returned by 5:00 PM on Election Day.
- If you bring your absentee ballot to the polls, you will be required to vote in person.
The Town Clerk’s Office will remain open until 5:00 PM on Monday, March 9th for absentee voting purposes only.
657:17-c Verification of absentee ballot applicant.
- Every applicant for an absentee ballot shall provide verification before being issued an absentee ballot. Verification shall be satisfied by one of the following methods:
- Including a copy of the voter’s photo ID with the absentee ballot application. The ID shall meet the requirements of RSA 659:13, II(a).
- Including a notarized signature on the absentee ballot application form; or
- Personally presenting a qualifying photo ID as defined in RSA 659:13, II(a), to the city or town clerk or their designee prior to the issuance of the absentee ballot.
No absentee ballot shall be issued unless one of the verification methods under the preceding paragraph has been satisfied.
- Visit the office in person to complete an absentee ballot request. Once your ballot is issued, you may:
- Voter Registration Information: New voters can register to vote at the Town Clerk’s Office at the Belmont Town Hall 143 Main Street, until February 27, 2026. You may also register in person on February 28, 2026, at the Supervisors of the Checklist meeting, held at the Town Hall from 11:00am-11:30am. Otherwise, new voter registrations will be accepted at the polls on election day. In addition to your ID and proof of residency (bill in your name, paystub, bank statement, car registration, etc.), House Bill 1569 now requires proof of valid citizenship with documents such as a birth certificate, passport, or naturalization paperwork. This new law also eliminates the affidavit ballot system. Voter Registration – If you do not have proof of citizenship, domicile, or age, you must appear in person with photo identification and complete an Application for Confidential Verification of a New Hampshire Vital Record or DMV Record.
