Town Buildings, Facilities, and Facility Management have been subjects of discussions, decisions, actions, and funding over many years as the needs of the community grow and change. In 2017 the Board of Selectmen created a Town Facility Strategy Committee to develop comprehensive information and options for future use of town buildings and how best to meet facility needs for town services and community activities in the future.

Belmont Community to have meeting about town buildings Jan. 10 Laconia Daily Sun 1/5/19
This meeting will focus on options to meet Belmont's future Town building needs. Belmont residents and landowners are being asked to help select the best option for future use of Town buildings considering space needs over the next 20 years. The meeting will include a Town Building Study update followed by a listening session and discussion to receive feedback on several options to meet future needs of the Police Department and Town Hall programs. Input from the community will help guide the next steps in the study and work to complete a strategy for all Town buildings later in 2019. A postcard was sent to Belmont residents to invite the community to participate in this meeting. A snow date of January 24th has been identified to ensure that this key meeting has good participation. More Info

07/31/18 Next Steps for Space and Feasibility Study At the July 18th Selectmen's meeting, the recommendation to pursue a contract with Lavallee/ Breslinger Architects was approved. The Belmont Facility Strategy Committee is working with this firm to finalize the scope of work, schedule, and cost for the Belmont Facility Space and Feasibility Study. Once these details are finalized and approved, work on the study will move forward. There will be a Kick off meeting with the contractor and Facility Committee in late August or September. All meetings will be open to the public with an opportunity to ask questions and offer comment. The Contractor will prepare a Space Study and do a preliminary assessment of Town buildings. This will be followed by Preliminary Options for use of Town buildings. When recommended options are refined with projected costs next Spring, the Committee plans to hold a Charette, a public meeting designed to draw input from the community on options to meet future Town facility needs. 03/30/18 The Town Facility Strategy Committee appreciates the community support for Article 12 on the ballot. This measure requested approval to use Municipal Facilities Reserve Funds to conduct a Space and Feasibility Study. With that approval, the Committee is now moving forward and will work with the Selectmen and staff to find a contractor to conduct the study. The Committee is working with staff on a Request for Qualifications to identify potential contractors and also developing a detailed proposal for the work to be completed within the study.
The Facility Strategy Committee will meet on April 6th at 5 pm in the Corner Meeting House First Floor Meeting Room. Public participation in the meeting is welcome! A meeting with the Selectmen is planned in the next few weeks to review the approach to the study, and timeline.
